LaDell and Phyllis completed
a trip around the world April 18 thru May 7 of 2001. The 21-day trip began with
a visit to Barcelona, Spain. They left Barcelona on a Wind Surf Sailing Ship for
a six day Mediterranean Cruise. Their trip continued with stops in
Delhi and Agra, India, and Hong Kong. According to Phyllis "Barcelona
is a well kept secret. It has an interesting history, and is a very clean
and modern city. There is much to see and do at this destination.
Our cruise stopped at five French Port Cities. In contrast to modern
Barcelona, each of the ports has a lot to offer in their culture."
After an overnight in London, LaDell and Phyllis traveled to Delhi India.
According to LaDell "the contrast between Barcelona and India is quite a
culture shock. Our visit to Agra and the Taj Mahal was impressive to say
the least. Even within Delhi we saw ancient forts, poverty and areas of
prosperity." After Delhi, they continued eastward to Hong Kong.
Phyllis found that Hong Kong is very crowded but very clean, cosmopolitan, and a
great place to shop. LaDell and Phyllis then took a non-stop flight from
Hong Kong to Chicago that passed only 10 miles to the north of their home town
of Brookings, SD. One last flight took them from Chicago back to Sioux
Falls, SD.
