Flin Flon Manitoba, Canada  -  June 8-11, 2000

Fishing North of the 54th Parallel

Paradise Lodge, 4.5  hr flying time by private aircraft from Brookings, SD, is on a famous Trout Lake.  The lodge, 540 road miles from Winnipeg,  has a restaurant, lounge, camping area, log cabins and a motel unit.

This years trip encountered overcast skies, and cold weather.  Rain was forecast but did not occur. Temperatures were in the single digits (centigrade).  We arrived on Thursday afternoon and were fishing the channels that evening.  On Friday, we fished Pickerel Bay and limited out on Walleye's.  Saturday we fished Shisk Lake for Northern Pike. Sunday morning we fished Atahpap's channels  where Gregg caught this trip's record, a 37.75 inch long Northern Pike.  Lake Athapapuskow holds Manitoba's Lake Trout record of 63 pounds. The lake also holds walleye, northern pike, burbot, whitefish and perch. . Atahapap offers 1500 miles of shoreline and 1100 explorable islands.
